Hey y’all how is everyone doing on this fine ass Wednesday. I have been bad with blogging recently since I am writing a book now. I will give you all the details once I am done with it. So nonetheless I figured time to get back on the horse and get back to blogging. I know Jackie Robinson was 3 days ago but I still want to write this seeing how much Jackie paved the way for so many other black players and just how much of a huge influence black people have had and still continue to have on the great game of baseball. So enough chitchat how about we jump right into this. So without further adieu here are the top 5 best black MLB players of all time.

1. Image result for hank aaron Right Fielder Hank Aaron: Okay first up on this list is the guy who broke a record no one thought was possible to break and that was Babe Ruth’s 714 career home run record. Hank played in the MLB for a total of 23 seasons from 1954-1976 during those 23 seasons he played for the Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves and the Milwaukee Brewers. during his career Hank was a 25× All-Star, 3× Gold Glove Award winner, 2× NL batting champion, 4× NL home run leader, 4× NL RBI leader. Hank was also the 1957 NL MVP and won the world series that same year.

Besides breaking Babe Ruth’s all time career home runs record hank is also known for the most career RBIs, total bases and extra base hits with 2,297 RBIs, 6,856 total bases and 1,477 extra base hits.Hank also got 755 HRs, 3,771 hits and 2,174 runs in his MLB career. Hank managed to get a .305/.374/.555 career slash line along with an .928 career OPS during his legendary MLB career. Hank was inducted into the baseball hall of fame on his first ballot in 1982

Barry holds the all time MLB record for all time career home runs with 762 and the most home runs in a season with 73 home runs in a season as well as the most career walks and most career intentional walks with 2,558 walks and 688 intentional walks. Barry played in the MLB for a total of 22 seasons from 1986-2007 playing with the Pittsburgh Pirates and the San Francisco Giants.

During his MLB career Barry was a 14× All-Star, 7× NL MVP, 8× Gold Glove Award winner, 12× Silver Slugger Award winner, 3× NL Hank Aaron Award winner, 2× NL batting champion, 2× NL home run leader and lead the NL in RBIs in 1993. During his MLB career Barry not only got 762 home runs but also 2,935 hits, 2,227 runs, 1,996 RBIs, 5,976 total bases and 1,440 extra base hits. Barry also got a legendary .298/.444/.607 career slash line and also an 1.051 career on base plus slugging percentage.

Willie is known for being the greatest 5 tool player in MLB history and is ranked by sporting news as the second best MLB player of all time. Willie played in the MLB for a total of 22 seasons from 1951-1973 playing for the New York / San Francisco Giants and the New York Mets. During his MLB career Willie was a 24× All-Star, 2× NL MVP, 12× Gold Glove Award winner, 4× NL home run leader and was a 4× NL stolen base leader.

Willie also won a world series in 1954 and was the 1954 NL batting champion, hit 4 home runs in one game in 1961, was the 1951 NL rookie of the year and the 1971 Roberto Clemente Award winner. During his MLB career Willie got 660 HRs, 3,283 hits, 2,062 runs, 1,903 RBIs, 6,066 total bases and 1,323 career extra base hits. 4. Image result for rickey henderson Left Fielder Rickey Henderson: Legendary baseball historian, writer and statistician who helped create sabermetrics was once asked if he thought Rickey Henderson was a future hall of famer. He responded with saying  “If you could split him in two, you’d have two Hall of Famers.” Rickey Henderson AKA “The Man of Steal” played in the MLB for a total of 25 seasons from 1979-2003 playing for the Oakland Athletics, the New York Yankees, the Toronto Blue Jays, the San Diego Padres, the Anaheim Angels, the New York Mets, the Seattle Mariners, the Boston Red sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Rickey currently holds the all time MLB record for career stolen bases with 1,406, career lead off home runs with 81, most career runs with 2,295 runs and most stolen bases in a season with a 130 in 1982. During his MLB career Rickey was an 10× All-Star, a 2× World Series champion, 3× Silver Slugger Award winner, 12× AL stolen base leader, the 1990 AL MVP and the 1989 ALCS MVP. During his MLB career Rickey got 297 HRs, 1,115 RBIs, 3,055 hits, 4,588 total bases and 873 extra base hits. Rickey also got an .279/.401/.419 career slash line along with an .820 career on base plus slugging percentage. Rickey was inducted into the baseball hall of fame in 2009 on his first ballot.

5. Image result for frank robinson First Baseman/Outfielder Frank Robinson: Frank is not only known for being a legendary baseball player but also the first black person to ever be named manager of an MLB team when in 1975 he was named the player manager of the Cleveland Indians  and remained the manager until 1977. He then went on to manage the San Francisco Giants, the Baltimore Orioles and the Montreal Expos/ Washington Nationals. Frank played in the MLB for a total of 21 seasons from 1956-1976 playing with the Cincinnati Reds, the Baltimore Orioles, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the California Angels and the Cleavland Indians.

During his MLB career Frank was a 14× All-Star, 2× World Series champion, the 1961 NL MVP winner, the 1966 AL MVP winner, the 1966 world series MVP and won the triple crown in 1966. Frank was also named the NL rookie of the year in 1956 and won a gold glove award in 1958. During his playing time in the MLB frank managed to get 586 HRs, 1,812 RBIs, 2,943 hits, 1,829 runs, 5,373 total bases and 1,186 extra base hits. Frank also got a stellar .294/.389/.537 career slash line and an .926 career on base plus slugging percentage.
