top 5 best relievers to target for you’re 2019 fantasy baseball drafts

Hey Y’all how is everyone doing on this fine ass Sunday? I hope everyone is getting ready for the upcoming work/school week. So I haven’t done a post in well over two weeks. While I am sorry for the absence on my blog and wished I had kept up with my blogging. I can assure you that my absence was not a result of laziness but due to the fact that my laptop recently broke so, I haven’t had anything to do any blogging on. But my dad has recently given me his laptop to borrow in the meantime until I get a new one.

So either way, since it has been a while since I have done my top 5 best players at each position to target for your fantasy baseball draft for the very close and upcoming 2019 MLB season. Now i know by now that almost everybody (myself included) has already done there fantasy draft. The 2019 season has already begun with the Seattle Mariners and the Oakland Athletics. Having already have played the first two games of the 2019 MLB season on March 20th and March 21st in Tokyo Japan. With the Mariners winning both games for a quick two-game international series to get the 2019 MLB season going.

The official 2019 MLB season is starting this Thursday the 28th of March. When all 30 MLB teams (the Mariners and Athletics included) will all play together to officially break in the 2019 MLB season. As I said before I know that almost everyone has already had their draft. But i want to finish what i started and wrap this series up. Also please note that I had talked about the 5 best starting pitchers to target for your fantasy baseball draft for the 2019 MLB season a little while ago.

So that’s why I skipped starting pitchers and went straight to relievers. (I know I was going in chronological order before so if you have been following my posts as of recently this might seem confusing for you). So enough chitchat how about we jump right into this. So without further adieu here are the top 5 best relievers to target for you’re 2019 fantasy baseball draft.

1. Image result for edwin diaz gifs New York Mets Relief Pitcher Edwin Diaz: Okay first guy on the list is the one and only Edwin Diaz. Edwin is coming off an absolutely killer 2018 Season with the Seattle Mariners where he led the MLB in saves, was named the AL reliever of the year and made it to his first all-star game. At just 24 years old he is extremely young and agile. So between his absolutely killer 2018 season and him being so young, there is very little downside to drafting him. Online and in print mock fantasy baseball drafts have listed him as being drafted in the 5th round of fantasy baseball drafts. And I most definitely agree with them on that one. Last year Edwin really established himself as the premier number one reliever currently in the MLB.

And I would no question take him in the 5th round if he was available. Edwin pitched in 73 games with the Mariners. Getting an 0-4 record, a 1.96 ERA, 57 saves, 61 save opportunities, 124 strikeouts and an a 0.79 WHIP. Edwin also got a stellar 44.3 strikeout percentage, a 7.29 strikeout to walk ratio and 15.22 strikeout per every 9 innings pitched. Along with a 1.61 FIP, a 1.78 xFIP, 1.49 SIERRA and a 3.5 WAR for the 2018 MLB season with the Seattle Mariners. FantasyPros projects Edwin will get a 4-3 record, 37 saves, 102 strikeouts, a 2.43 ERA and an 0.97 WHIP for the upcoming 2019 MLB season.

2. Image result for blake treinen gifs Oakland Athletics Relief Pitcher Blake Treinen: Okay the second guy on the list is the one and only Blake Treinen. Blake just like Edwin is coming off of a red hot 2018 season with him making it to his first ever all-star game appearance. Blake is 30 years old and is entering into his 6th year in the MLB having made his MLB debut back in 2014. FantastyPros currently has Blake Ranked as the second best relief pitcher in fantasy baseball heading into the 2019 MLB season Online and in print, mock fantasy baseball drafts have put up blake as being selected into the 5th round.

I would also definitely agree with that. Blake is definitely in that elite class of relievers heading into the 2019 season and I would recommend going after blake anywhere in the 5th to 7th round of your fantasy draft. For the 2018 season, Blake pitched in 68 games with the Athletics. Getting an amazing 9-2 record, 0.78 ERA, a 0.83 WHIP, 38 saves and 100 strikeouts.

Blake also got an outstanding 31.8 strikeout percentage, 11.20 strikeouts per every 9 innings pitched and a 4.76 strikeout to walk ratio. As well as a 1.82 FIP, a 2.42 xFIP, a 2.46 SIERRA and a 3.6 WAR for the 2018 MLB season with the Oakland Athletics. FantasyPros currently projects Blake will get a 4-3 record, 33 saves, 83 strikeouts, a 2.73 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP

3. Image result for aroldis chapman gifs New York Yankees Relief Pitcher Aroldis Chapman: Okay the third guy on the list is the one and only Aroldis “the Cuban missile” Chapman. I know it may seem I am being a little biased by putting Aroldis up on this list with him being the Yankees closer and me loving the Yankees like Pope Francis loves Catholicism. But I swear that isn’t the case.

Aroldis has definitely earned himself a spot on this list. Aroldis is coming off another amazing season with him having made it to his 5th all-star game appearance in 2018. FantasyPros currently has Aroldis ranked as the 4th best relief pitcher in fantasy baseball heading into the upcoming 2019 MLB season.

Online and in print mock fantasy baseball drafts have put up Aroldis as getting drafted in the 6th round of fantasy baseball drafts. Me personally i would definitely recommend getting aroldis anywhere in the 6-10th round. Aroldis Pitched in 55 games for the Yankees in 2018. Getting a 3-0 record, a 2.45 ERA, 32 saves, 34 save opportunities, 93 strikeouts and a 1.05 WHIP in 2018.

Aroldis also got an amazing 43.9 strikeout percentage, 16.31 strikeouts per every 9 innings pitched and a 3.10 strikeout to walk ratio. Along with a 2.09 FIP, a 2.58 xFIP, a 2.51 SIERRA and a 2.0 WAR for the 2018 season with the New York Yankees. FantasyPros projects Aroldis will get a 3-2 record, 34 saves, 92 strikeouts, a 2.63 ERA and 1.09 WHIP for the 2019 season with the New York Yankees

4. Image result for kenley jansen gifs Los Angeles Dodgers Relief Pitcher Kenley Jansen: Okay second to last guy on the list is the one and only Kenley Jansen. Kenley is 31 years old and is heading into his 9th year in the MLB. Kenley is coming off an another solid season in 2019. Not nearly as good as his 2017 season where he lead the NL in saves, Pitched an immaculate inning and was named the NL reliever of the year. But it was still a pretty damn amazing season. Kenley made it to his 3rd all-star game appearance in 2019.

FantasyPros currently has Kenley ranked as the third-best relief pitcher in fantasy baseball for the 2019 MLB season. Online and Mock fantasy baseball drafts have put up Kenley as going in the 7th-10th round in the draft. Me personally I would recommend taking him in the 8th round. While he is an elite reliever he isn’t at the same level as Edwin Diaz or Blake Treinen are in fantasy baseball for 2019. For the 2018 season, Kenley pitched in 69 games with the Dodgers.

Getting a 1-5 record, 38 saves, 42 save opportunities, a 3.01 ERA, 82 strikeouts and a 0.99 WHIP. Kenley also put up a sensational 28.4 strikeout percentage, a 4.82 strikeout to walk ratio and 10.30 strikeouts per every 9 innings pitched. Kenley also got a solid 4.03 FIP, a 3.56 xFIP, a 2.97 SIERRA and an 0.3 WAR for the 2018 MLB season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. For the 2019 MLB season FantasyPros projects Kenley will get a 4-3 record, 38 saves, 82 strikeouts, a 2.92 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP for the 2019 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

5. Image result for felipe vazquez gifs Pittsburgh Pirates Relief Pitcher Felipe Vazquez: Okay last but not least on this list is the only Felipe Vazquez. Felipe is 27 years old and is heading into his 5th year in the MLB having made his MLB debut with the Washington Nationals in 2015. Felipe is coming off an amazing season in 2018 with him having made it to the all-star game for the first time in 2018. FantasyPros has Felipe listed as the 7th best reliever in fantasy baseball for the 2019 MLB season. Online and in print mock fantasy baseball drafts have him listed as going in the 10th round of fantasy baseball drafts.

And I definitely have to agree with them on that. Felipe is a great pick to go after in the 10th round. Felipe pitched in 70 games with the pirates in 2018. Getting a fantastic 4-2 record, 37 saves, 42 save opportunities, 89 strikeouts, a 2.70 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. Felipe also got a pretty dope 30.1 strikeout percentage, a 3.71 strikeout to walk ratio and 11.44 strikeouts per every 9 innings pitched. Along with a 2.43 FIP, a 3.06 xFIP, a 2.95 SIERRA and a 2.1 WAR for the 2018 MLB season with the Pittsburgh Pirates. FantasyPros projects Felipe will get a 4-3 record, 34 saves, 84 strikeouts, a 2.86 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP for the upcoming 2019 MLB season with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
