Hey everyone its you’re one and only Davey baseball from the one and only there is no crying in baseball blog back from my cousin’s wedding to talk to you about my top 5 AL MVP Candidates for 2017. So without further adieu here are the top 5 AL MVP candidates for 2017
1. Houston Astros Second Baseman Jose Altuve: Okay I love Jose as someone who is under 5’10 i love Jose Altuve he is every short guys idol. Now the beauty of Jose Altuve is despite how small he is but amazing. His stats are amazing this year he has hit .355/.415/.599. Along with a .974 on base plus slugging percentage. Jose this season has the second most hits in the MLB with a 175 right next to Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon who has hit a 177 hits this season. Jose also has 87 runs this season along with 67 RBIS. jose this season has a .379 batting average on ball in play and jose has the 4th most weighted runs created so far in 2017 with a 108 weighted runs created this season. He also has the second highest total offensive value according to fangraphs with a 42.3 total offensive value this season
2. Houston Astros Right Fielder George Springer: Another Astro here george is definitely someone who is having a good season this year. The first year all-star this season has put up a .295/.369/.553 hitting line along with a .922 on base plus slugging percentage. He has also gotten 29 home runs along with a 128 hits, 90 runs and 71 runs. George this year has also gotten 240 total bases and 54 extra base hits. he has also managed to put up a .258 isolated power, a .315 batting average in play and a .387 weighted on base average.
3. New York Yankees Right Fielder Aaron Judge: Order in the court now will the first half Aaron Judge please stand up. Okay first half Aaron judge is like you’re girlfriend in the in the first six months of youre relationship. She always wore makeup, always dressed really sexy laughed at all youre jokes and now she sits in youre home binge watching Netflix in her sweats. The first half Aaron judge was hitting .328/.448/.691 and now in the second half he is hitting .169/.329/.355 quite the change in production am i right. But none the less Aaron is still a big candidate for not just for AL rookie of the year but for AL MVP as well. right now he has hit the second most home runs in the MLB right next to Giancarlo Stanton with 37 home runs. He also has gotten 125 hits, 82 RBIS and 97 runs. Now this is an improvement it may not be first half aaron judge but nothing will ever come close to first half aaron judge #99problems but Aaron judge aint one.
4. Kansas City Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer: Okay Eric is someone i really like right now. Eric this season is hitting .320/.384/.502 along with a .886 on base plus slugging percentage. Right now Eric has managed to get a 157 hits this season along with 21 home runs, 73 RBIS and 78 runs. He also has gotten 246 total bases and 46 extra base hits in 2017 as well. right now he also has an impressive .182 isolated power, a .349 batting average on ball in play and a .377 weighted on base average.
5. Toronto blue Jays First Baseman Justin Smoak: is there a fire in here because i belive i smell Smoak. Ah the good old Justin Smoak. Here is a joke for you what do smoke and Justin Smoak both have in common? there both on fire. Right now justin is hitting .289/.365/.572 along with a .937 on base plus slugging percentage. Justin this year has 35 home runs along with a 132 hits, 74 runs and 82 RBIS. Justin this season on the sabermetric side of baseball stats has done really well this year. He has a .283 isolated power, a .306 batting average on ball in play and a .391 weighted on base average.
