Hey everyone its you’re one and only Davey baseball from the one and only there is no crying in baseball blog back from my cousin’s wedding to talk to you about my top 5 AL MVP Candidates for 2017. So without further adieu here are the top 5 AL MVP candidates for 2017

1.   Houston Astros Second Baseman Jose Altuve: Okay I love Jose as someone who is under 5’10 i love Jose Altuve he is every short guys idol. Now the beauty of Jose Altuve is despite how small he is but amazing. His stats are amazing this year he has hit .355/.415/.599. Along with a .974 on base plus slugging percentage. Jose this season has the second most hits in the MLB with a 175 right next to Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon  who has hit a 177 hits this season. Jose also has 87 runs this season along with 67 RBIS. jose this season has a .379 batting average on ball in play and jose has the 4th most weighted runs created so far in 2017 with a 108 weighted runs created this season. He also has the second highest total offensive value according to fangraphs with a 42.3 total offensive value this season

The first year all-star this season has put up a .295/.369/.553 hitting line along with a .922 on base plus slugging percentage. He has also gotten 29 home runs along with a 128 hits, 90 runs and 71 runs. George this year has also gotten 240 total bases and 54 extra base hits. he has also managed to put up a .258 isolated power, a .315 batting average in play and a .387 weighted on base average.

Okay first half Aaron judge is like you’re girlfriend in the in the first six months of youre relationship. She always wore makeup, always dressed really sexy laughed at all youre jokes and now she sits in youre home binge watching Netflix in her sweats. The first half Aaron judge was hitting .328/.448/.691 and now in the second half he is hitting .169/.329/.355 quite the change in production am i right. But none the less Aaron is still a big candidate for not just for AL rookie of the year but for AL MVP as well. right now he has hit the second most home runs in the MLB right next to Giancarlo Stanton with 37 home runs. He also has gotten 125 hits, 82 RBIS and 97 runs. Now this is an improvement it may not be first half aaron judge but nothing will ever come close to first half aaron judge #99problems but Aaron judge aint one.

4. Related image Kansas City Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer: Okay Eric is someone i really like right now. Eric this season is hitting .320/.384/.502 along with a .886 on base plus slugging percentage. Right now Eric has managed to get a 157 hits this season along with 21 home runs, 73 RBIS and 78 runs. He also has gotten 246 total bases and 46 extra base hits in 2017 as well. right now he also has an impressive .182 isolated power, a .349 batting average on ball in play and a .377 weighted on base average.

Here is a joke for you what do smoke and Justin Smoak both have in common? there both on fire. Right now justin is hitting .289/.365/.572 along with a .937 on base plus slugging percentage. Justin this year has 35 home runs along with a 132 hits, 74 runs and 82 RBIS. Justin this season on the sabermetric side of baseball stats has done really well this year. He has a .283 isolated power, a .306 batting average on ball in play and a .391 weighted on base average.

Hello everyone it is sunday night and i am drop dead tired and while i am not looking forward to another work week i am looking forward to a good night sleep. But i decided why not talk do a blog post and talk about some great designated hitters so without further adieu here are the top 5 best designated hitters in the 2017 MLB season.

1. Image result for trey mancini wallpaper Baltimore Orioles Designated Hitter Trey Mancini: Okay at 25 Trey is really young for a DH. Usually you would expect them to be around 35 but no Trey is just 25 years old and playing DH. Trey played in 5 games for the orioles in 2016. Trey made headlines in his first 12 games in the MLB. In those 5 games he played in 2016 he got three home runs and they all came in his first three starts he is one of only three players in major league history to accomplish that feat.

This season Trey has played in 96 games and has gotten 18 home runs, a 102 hits, 44 runs and 58 RBIS. Trey also has gotten a 178 total bases and 38 extra base hits this season as well. Trey currently is also batting .300 along with leading all designated hitters in slugging percentage with a .524 slugging percentage and a .350 on base percentage and a .873 on base plus slugging percentage. Sabermetrically Trey has a .217 isolated power, a .355 batting average on ball in play and a .360 weighted on base average.

Nelson is once at it again with his total dominant performance on the plate as a DH. At 37 years old Nelson is no kid but he is still playing like he is 27 and not 37.

This season Nelson leads all Designated Hitters in home runs and RBIS with 24 home runs and 80 RBIS so far this season. He also has a 104 hits and 52 runs. He also has a 189 total bases and 41 extra base hits in 2017 also. Nelson is also batting .278 this season along with a .505 slugging percentage, a .366 on base percentage and a .871 on base plus slugging percentage. Nelson also has a .227 isolated power, a .304 batting average on ball in play and a .365 weighted on base average.

Either way enough of that lets talk about Corey Dickerson. Corey right now is really killing it for a DH.

Corey is in his 5th MLB season this year first breaking out in the show with the Rockies in 2013. This season Corey is arguably having his best season yet. He made it to the all-star game for the first time in his career this season. Corey right now leads all Designated hitters in hits and runs with a 128 hits and 68 runs.

He also has 21 home runs along with 50 RBIS this season as well. Corey even leads all designated hitters in total bases and extra base hits this season with 224 total bases and 51 extra base hits.He also right now is batting .296 along with a .517 slugging percentage, a .341 on base percentage and a .859 on base plus slugging percentage. Corey also this season has the best batting average on ball in play out of any DH in 2017 with a .354 batting average on ball in play. He also has a .224 isolated power and a .363 weighted on base average.

4. Related image Cleveland Indians Designated Hitter Edwin Encarnación: Edwin is currently playing for the team that destroyed his previous team (The Toronto Blue Jays) in the 2016 ALCS. Edwin right now is doing very well and making a good adjustment to a new team and a new city. Right now he has 22 home runs, 97 hits, 64 runs and RBIS and 180 total base hits and 38 extra base hits as well.

Right now he is currently batting .253 along with a .470 slugging percentage, a .368 on base percentage and a .838 on base plus slugging percentage. Lets not forget about his Sabermetric stats though. This season he has a .218 isolated power, a .286 batting average on ball in play and a .358 weighted on base average.

Okay cheesy pun i know but i just couldn’t help myself #sorrynotsorry. Either way Kendrys right now is on his 5th MLB team in 11 seasons since entering the 2017 season when he left the Kansas City Royals to play for the Blue Jays. Kendrys currently right now has 21 home runs, a 100 hits, 59 rbis and 54 runs along with a 181 total bases and 39 extra base hits.

Currently this season Kendrys is also batting a descent not great but still pretty good .251 batting average along with a .455 slugging percentage, a .315 on base percentage and a .770 on base plus slugging percentage. Kendrys also has a .205 isolated power along with a .279 batting average on ball in play and a .328 weighted on base average.
