top 5 best mlb fielders this season

Hey everyone i am just banging out my newest article the 5 best MLB fielders this season. Fielding is a stat you dont see a lot or think of a lot overall when valuing a players ability. But i would like to give the great fielders out there some credit so without further adieu here are the top best MLB fielders this season

Image result for paul goldschmidt arizona Diamondbacks First Baseman Paul Goldschmidt: Paul right now is probably one of the best fielders in the MLB and He has 2 gold glove awards to show for it. Currently this season paul has played 1129.1 innings fielding at first base this season the 4th most in baseball.

Paul also has the most putouts in the MLB with 1127 putouts and the most total catches in the mlb with 1231 total catches. Paul also has a 104 double plays the 6th most in the MLB. The only area in paul’s fielding that needs improvement is his number of assists only having a 100 assists this season but overall fangraphs give him a .997 fielding percentage which is the tenth best in the MLB this season

Image result for freddie freeman Atlanta Braves First Baseman Freddie Freeman: good old freddie freeman. He truly is trapped on an island of misfit toys with the atlanta braves. But he is as i said before trademark pending an all star on a team with no stars the atlanta braves. He is the the harley davidson, cigarette smoking Kelly Leak of the Bad news Bears for the atlanta braves. He is there only decent player and he is a very good fielder. Right now he has played the most amount of innings in the MLB fielding with a 1157.2 innings fielded.

He is second place right next to the aforementioned paul goldschmidt in total catches and putouts with 1182 total catches and 1085 put outs. He is once again next to Paul Goldschmidt in double plays with a 101 double plays the 7th most in the MLB. Freddie is just like paul lacking in assists having 92 assists. Freddie has a .996 fielding percentage the 17th best in the MLB. Freddie fielding is very excellent and i see a gold glove in his future

Image result for brandon belt 2016 San Francisco Giants First Baseman Brandon Belt: Okay i am not looking to flood this article with first baseman but i guess this year there are a lot of good first baseman that are good fielders and first baseman as you know see the most action fielding wise since they are usually the ones who are first on the scene when there is a hit.

Brandon has a 1075.2 innings innings fielded this season at first base. Brandon had the 4th most total catches with a 1139 total catches and the 4th most putouts with 1057 putouts. He has the least amount of assists on the list with 75 assists but he also has 91 double plays. Brandon’s most impressive fielding skill is his 9.28 range factor the third highest in the MLB (range factor is a statistic that is calculated by determining the sum of a player’s putouts and assists, then multiplying that number by nine,  and finally dividing that number by the number of innings played in a particular defensive position)

Brandon has a .994 fielding percentage the 33rd highest in the MLB and is definitely getting more noticed as a fielder and a overall player and made the all star game for the first time this season in his 6 years in the MLB all spent playing with the San Francisco Giants

Image result for chris carter brewers Milwaukee Brewers First Baseman Chris Carter: Chris is currently playing his first season in the national league. He has been in the MLB since 2010 first playing with the Oakland Athletics from 2010-2012 and then playing with the houston astros from 2013 to 2015 and now playing with the Brewers. So far this season Chris has fielded a total of 1079.0 innings.

Chris is most dominant with total catches and putouts having the 5th most putouts in the mlb this season with 1135 putouts and the third most total catches in the MLB with 1066 putouts. Chris has the 14th most double plays in the MLB with 95 double plays. Chris has the 10th highest range factor in the MLB with a 9.02 range factor and is definitely in my opinion a fielder you can always rely on.

Image result for anthony rizzo wallpaper Chicago Cubs First Baseman Anthony Rizzo: I have talked about antonys fielding abiliy before in another article in the past (https://theresnocryinginbaseballblog.wordpress.com/2016/08/08/the-curious-case-of-the-2016-chicago-cubs/) so i am pretty well versed on his fielding abiliy but i should give you all a refresher on his fielding.  He has fielded a total of 109.1 innings this season the 17th most in baseball.

Anthony is in third place for total catches with 1148 total catches. He also has the 6th most putouts in the MLB with 1048 putouts. Right now anthony has 94 assists and 76 double plays. The most outstanding fielding stat for anthony is his 9.21 range factor and his overall 21st highest .995 fielding percentage.

5 best base runners this season

Okay this is a follow up article to my previous https://theresnocryinginbaseballblog.wordpress.com/2016/08/23/5-best-hitters-so-far-in-the-2016-season/ and i think its time to focus on the guys that run the bases instead of the ones that always score so without further adieu here are the top 5 base runners this season

1. Image result for mookie betts Boston Red Sox right fielder Mookie Betts: Mookie got over his rookie season jitters and his sophomore slump and has landed into the sweet third MLB season. Mookie has had an amazing season he made the all star game for the first time this season and he was the starting right fielder for the all star game as well. Mookie right now has 28 home runs this season, a 165 hits and 89 rbis. But what is most impressive about mookie this season is his base running skills.

Right now he has the most total bases in the MLB with 293 total bases this season. He also has 34 doubles and 5 triples this season as well. He even has 20 stolen bases this season as well. Mookie has the second most runs in baseball with 99 runs this season his only baserunning stat that isn’t impressive is his on base percentage which is .353 (note i know it is impressive but i usually put guys that are in the top 50 stats leaders for my blog posts)

2. Image result for Jean Segura diamondbacks running Arizona diamondbacks second baseman Jean Segura: Jean is a fresh face he is the kind of player you dont really hear too much you might then and now see a quick ten second clip of him on sportscenter but nothing special and then hes the guy you will one day hear about and you check out his stats and youre like wow that guy is really good how come i dont hear much about him well look no further you found him with Jean Segura. Jean is not a career hitter he has only 34 career home runs.

But what makes Jean so good is his base running skills. He right now has 33 doubles,6 triples and 27 stolen bases the 7th most in baseball. Jean also has racked up quite a few total bases with 238 total bases and his number of runs isn’t to shabby either with 78 runs this season. Jean has a .379 on base percentage this season the 27th best in baseball and fangraphs gave him a 3.3 UBR (ultimate base running it is a baseball statistical metric that is used to determine a players overall baserunning ability)

3. Image result for kris bryantChicago Cubs Third baseman Kris Bryant: for those who read my blog you would know that i mentioned kris bryant very heavily in one of my recent posts on the chicago cubs (https://theresnocryinginbaseballblog.wordpress.com/2016/08/08/the-curious-case-of-the-2016-chicago-cubs) I love kris alot he is easily one of my favorite players in baseball. Kris is known for his home run hitting having the 4th most home runs in the MLB with 33 home runs and a 144 hits and batting .301 and even sneaking 86 RBIS.

But lets not let his base running stats go uncounted for. Right now he has third most total bases in the MLB with 275 total bases. Kris also has 29 doubles and the most runs in the MLB with a 104 runs this season. What he is also really known for when it comes to base running is his .393 on base percentage the tenth best in baseball. Kris is the all around baseball player with not only his hitting but his base running.

4. Image result for Freddie Freeman braves Atlanta Braves First Baseman Freddie Freeman: Freddie is a good player on a bad team. He is an all star on a team with no stars the atlanta braves as you all know the atlanta braves are currently 46-80 and are playing not just below 500 but 400 with a .365 percentage. But freddie shouldn’t let the fact that he definitely won’t be going to the postseason anytime soon and focus on his amazing base running stats currently having 32 doubles,6 triples and 256 total bases the 14th most in baseball. Freddie is also quite the runs scorer having scored 75 runs this season. Freddie .386 on base percentage can really attest to his base running skills and really show how he is a star base runner its a shame the braves couldn’t have more players like him maybe they would win 50 games

5. Image result for starling marte Pittsburgh Pirates Left Fielder Starling Marte: Starling is in his 5th year in the mlb this year and made it to the all star game this year. Starling only has 7 home runs and 41 rbis this season so he isn’t the best at those two vital fields fields in baseball. Starling does have a 133 hits this year and a .307 batting average so he isn’t terrible. But while he cant hit home runs boy can he get on base. He right now has 30 doubles and 5 triples. Starling has the 3rd most stolen bases in baseball this season with 41 stolen bases and he has a 194 total bases this season. He has a descent number of runs with 65 total runs this season but he has a much better .364 on base percentage and a 2.4 UBR value that is the 19th best in baseball this season. Starling is very impressive and i think with him i can say i saved the best for last on my list.

5 Best hitters so far in the 2016 season

Hey everyone i have had a bit of a writer’s block and i haven’t been able to produce the number of articles i want to so without further adieu here are the 5 best hitters so far in the 2016

1.baltimore Orioles Right Fielder Mark Trumbo: Mark currently is leading the MLB in home runs with 38 home runs. In mark’s last 7 games he has gotten 4 hits and all of those hits were home runs. Last season while playing for both the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Seattle Mariners Mark only got 22 home runs.

Mark has really come a long way since last year. Mark also has the 5th most RBIS in baseball with 92 RBIS this season. Mark has a 123 hits this season which puts him one spot above Yankees starters Didi Gregorius and Starlin Castro who both have a 122 hits at 60th most in baseball marks batting average is very average at .256 but it is not up to par with his MLB leading 38 home runs But thankfully marks slugging percentage is much better  being at .540

2. Toronto blue jays designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion: Edwin is currently a DH at just 33 years old quite young for a DH most players don’t become a DH until over 35 but still it is definitely working for him. Right now he has 35 home runs the second most in the MLB right next to the aforementioned Mark Trumbo. Edwin is really killing it this year and it looks like he is on pace to beat his 39 home runs last year.

Edwin like Mark does not have the best hit number with only a 124 hits this season I know it’s like a lot for like an average player but he isn’t an average player he is Edwin Encarnacion. But fear not Edwin does have the second most RBIS in baseball right next to Nolan arenado with a 101 RBIS. Edwin also lacks in batting averages with a .268 batting average but his .555 slugging percentage will help you overlook that

3. Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve: Jose is the living definition of mark twain’s quote its not the size of the dog in the fight its about the size of the fight in the dog. A bigger thing could not come in any more of a small package than jose altuve. Jose for the last two seasons was the american league second baseman for the all star game. Jose has been putting up really big numbers and his batting average might actually be bigger than him with a MLB leading .364 batting average. Last year he had the tenth best batting average in the MLB with a .313 batting average. Jose is also leading the mlb with a 179 hits. Jose has had 492 at bats this means he gets a hit ever 2.7 at bats.

Jose also has the third best slugging percentage in baseball right next to david ortiz and daniel murphy with a .575 slugging percentage. Jose also has 20 home runs this season the most in his career. Last season he got 15. Jose even has 82 rbis the 14th most in baseball. While jose is not a power home run hitter he is easily the best hitter in baseball right next to daniel murphy.

i mean he broke the astros franchise single season hit record set originally by hall of fame astros second baseman craig biggio of 210 hits and jose got 225 hits that season and he also surpassed craig’s record of being the fastest astros player to reach 800 hits when jose got his 800th hit on september 11th 2015. So men whenever you hear a women say size doesn’t matter tell them about jose altuve

4. Colorado Rockies Third Baseman Nolan Arenado: History is repeating itself with Nolan Arenado. As in he is having a spectacular season just like his legendary 2015 season where he lead the mlb in rbis with a 130 rbis and getting the third most home runs and the most home runs in the mlb with 42 home runs. Nolan right now is ten home runs away from his 2015 record with 32 home runs.

but he does have a 104 rbis and is once again leading the MLB in rbis. Nolan isn’t as good as a hitter as the aforementioned jose altuve but he does have a 134 hits this season. Nolan does have a pretty decent batting average with a .283 batting average and a even better slugging percentage with a .557 slugging percentage. Nolan is young at 25 and has a lot of promise so i am very excited to see how he does down the road

5. Image result for daniel murphy nationalsWashington Nationals Second Baseman Daniel Murphy: The worst thing to happen to the cubs since a billy goat and steve bartman is daniel murphy. Daniel helped sweep the cubs in 4 games back in the 2015 NLCS. Daniel got 4 home runs,6 rbis,6 runs,9 hits and 22 total bases. he also batted .529 that series and had a 1.294 slugging percentage and even a .556 on base percentage. He was obviously named the NLCS MVP it’s a shame he couldn’t play like that in the 2015 world series against the kansas city royals.

Daniel has since moved onto the washington nationals and has adjusted quite well having a a 152 hits this season the 6th in baseball and the 6th most rbis in baseball with 90 rbis. Daniel has also reached the 20 home run plateau mark this season having 23 home runs right now.

Daniel is second best in both batting average and slugging percentage having a .347 batting average the second best in the mlb right next to altuves .364 batting average and a .610 slugging percentage the second best in the MLB right next to david ortiz .637 slugging percentage. Daniel also made the all star game this year the second time since 2014 and is in a very good place playing with the right now very hot 73-51 washington nationals the second best team in the MLB right next to the chicago cubs and the cubs better hope that they dont face the nationals in the NLCS this year with Daniel on there roster

5 Best hitters so far in the 2016 season

A look at baseballs best and biggest babies

http://www.photojoiner.net/image/o03MuHS1

#norunsdmc is now gone and #babybombers is now in. the yankees all star bullpen of Andrew Miller,Dellin Betances and Aroldis Chapman are now gone and the yankees key three infielders catcher gary sanchez, first baseman tyler austin and right fielder Aaron Judge are now in. So far the trio have combined for over 9 home runs,33 hits,19 rbis, 15 runs and 66 total bases. the unique thing is each member of the trio is under 25 and hasn’t even played in 20 games yet this season and are already the most talked about trio in baseball. so without further adieu lets get started

1.  Right Fielder Aaron Judge: Aaron made his mlb debut on saturday august 13th at yankee stadium against the tampa bay rays (fun fact i was at that game) In his first at bat Aaron got a home run his first at bat. But Aaron would have to share the limelight with fellow teammate tyler austin who also got his first home run that day in his first at bat as well. That was the first time in MLB history two rookies got a home run in there first at bat in the same game while playing for the same team. And the cool thing is both of there home runs were back to back with tyler getting the first one and then Aaron getting the second.

I am really honored to have gone to that game. Aaron was easily one of the most talked about prospects in baseball for the 2016 MLB season. Aaron might be a baseball player but he is built like an NFL linebacker standing at 6’8 and weighing 275 pounds. The last yankee to be as big as he is was dave winfield who was 6’6 and 220 pounds and Aaron is bigger than him.

Aaron was originally recruited by colleges to play football but choose to play baseball and he was selected in the 31st round of the 2010 MLB draft by the oakland Athletics but opted to go to play college baseball at fresno state university in fresno california during which he would get named an all american by louisville slugger during his freshmen year of college and was the winner of the 2012 TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby.  Judge got named All-Mountain West Conference for all 3 seasons he spent playing at fresno state university.

Aaron would once again get drafted in the MLB draft this time 3 years later in 2013 with the Yankees as the 32nd overall selection in the 2013 MLB draft. Aaron would not play in 2013 due to the fact that a quad injury would keep him out of the 2013 season. Aaron would make his debut with the yankees organization in 2014 with the yankees single A farm team the charleston riverdogs. Due to a stellar performance with the riverdogs in just 65 games He would get prompted from single a to class A advanced florida state league playing with the tampa yankees for the remainder of the 2014 season.

in 2015 Aaron was invited by the yankees to spring training as a non roster player and played for the yankees double A team the trenton thunder and would once again advance up this time to the yankees triple A team the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders after just 63 games in june of 2015. Aaron was chosen to represent the yankees in the 2015 all star futures game at cincinnati in the great american ballpark the home of the reds

Aaron would finally make his aforementioned debut on august 13th and would get the aforementioned home run in his first at bat. So far aaron has played in 7 games since last saturday and has only had 26 at bats. Aaron so far has gotten 3 home runs,8 hits,6 rbis,3 runs and 15 total bases. Aaron has also been batting .308 so far in his first week in the MLB and has also gotten a .577 slugging percentage and a .379 on base percentage.

Aarons distinguished first week performance has been the best MLB rookie first week in a while right next to trevor story first week back in april during the first week of the 2016 mlb season. Aaron is exactly what the yankees need in a player with his power hitting he can be a key part in finishing this season and helping the yankees get the wild card and for 2017 helping the yankees win the world series. Either way i think the chase for 28 is going to be a lot easier with Aaron judge on the roster

2. First Baseman Tyler Austin:Tyler is the oldest of the baby bombers with him being born in september of 1991 and will turn 25 on september 6th. Tyler right now has played in 5 games and has had 20 at bats. Tyler is the least statistically advantaged out of the three ( i am looking for a fancy way of saying the worst) but please do bare in mind he hasn’t even played in one full week of baseball yet so his numbers are pretty good. He did get the aforementioned first home run in his first at bat last saturday. Tyler has also gotten a 3 hits and 1 rbi and 1 run. He also has 6 total bases and is batting .150 and has a .150 on base percentage as well. His best stat is his .300 slugging percentage.

Tyler has had quite a career leading up to his big break last saturday.Tyler grew up in georgia but always had a love for the yankees specifically derek jeter. Tyler did not play first base during his high school years at heritage high school in conyers georgia a suburb outside of atlanta instead he would play catcher and he would pitch as well and even was a third baseman. during tyler’s sophomore year at converse high school he would get a .629 batting average and hit 19 home runs he was featured in the rockdale citizen the main newspaper for people in conyers georgia and the people in rockdale county the county which conyers was located in.

Tyler had a bout with cancer when he was 17 but luckily a surgery was able to remove the tumor before it could spread and get any more deadly and possibly end his baseball career. after graduating from high school tyler committed to playing at kennesaw state university in kennesaw georgia for the kennesaw owls baseball team. Tyler had also been heavily noticed by a yankees scout and was selected by the yankees in the 13th round of the 2010 mlb draft he was the 415th overall selection in the 2010 MLB draft.

Tyler received a $130,000 signing bonus to sign with the yankees instead of go to kennesaw state university in 2010 and would make his debut with the yankees organization in 2010 playing with the gulf coast yankees a rookie league minor league affiliate for the yankees in tampa Florida playing just two games with them in the 2010 season.

from 2011 to 2013 tyler would play for the gulf coast yankees for half of the 2011 season before being promoted to the staten island yankees a class a short season yankees affiliate on july 15th 2011in march of 2012 tyler would be assigned to the yankees and then sent to play for charleston riverdogs another yankees class a affiliate team in the class a south atlantic league.

tyler would hit 12 home runs with the riverdogs and the yankees once again promoted him to the tampa yankees the yankees class a  advanced affiliate in the florida state league. tyler was also chosen to represent the yankees in the 2012 all star futures game but due to a ankle injury he couldn’t play the game.

Tyler would finally make double a when on september 2nd he was once again called up by the yankees to play for the trenton yankees the yankees class AA affiliate in class AA eastern league. Tyler would have such a triampuntent 2012 season hitting .332 and slugging .559 and even getting on base pretty well with a .400 on base percentage. Tyler also got a 133 hits that season, 80 rbis and 92 runs. The yankees were so  impressed with his 2012 season performance yankees general manager brian cashman referred to tyler as a mega prospect and he won the yankees minor league player of the year award in 2012.

tyler would get invited to the yankees spring training as a non roster invite for the 2013 season and then would play in trenton as an outfielder but due to a wrist injury in july he would miss over 60 games that season. Tyler was once again invited to the yankees spring training in 2014 as a non roster invite and would once again be sent to the trenton thunder and would bat .275 that season with the thunder and would also have a .419 slugging percentage and a .336 on base percentage along with 9 home runs,47 rbis,a 109 hits and 56 runs.

during the 2015 tyler was finally assigned to the yankees Triple AAA affiliate the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Tyler was in a huge slump for most of the 2015 season. While with the railriders in 2015 tyler only batted .235 and had a .309 slugging percentage. Tyler would be lowered back down from Triple AAA to Double AA on august 7th 2015 getting sent to play for the trenton thunder.

Tyler would really improve during his 21 games playing with trenton getting a .260 batting average and a .455 slugging percentage and a .337 slugging percentage along with 2 home runs,8 rbis,20 hits and 8 runs. Sending him down to double AA was a much needed mental break from the struggles of playing triple AAA. tyler would play with trenton up until june of the 2016 season when he got called up back to triple AAA with the Railriders and while playing with the railriders he definitely got his groove back from 2015.

in just 73 games he would bat .323 and had such a spectacular slugging percentage with a .637 slugging percentage. He even was running the bases like crazy with a .415 on base percentage. And it doesn’t even stop there tyler also got 65 hits, 13 home runs,32 rbis and 39 runs. Tyler dream would come true on august 13th when he got promoted to the yankees 25 man lineup on saturday august 13th and would hit one out of the park at his first at bat. Tyler is pretty inspirational he suffered from cancer and career slumps but was determined to not let either of that hold him back #respect

Catcher Gary Sanchez: Gary might not be the oldest of the three being 23 years old but he is the most experienced out of the trio having played in 18 games and even played in 2 games last season in october and went hitless in two at bats in those 2 games. Gary has played in 16 games so far this season and as of now he is the yankees active starting catcher as Brian McCann now has been playing DH for the team. in those 16 games gary has gotten 6 home runs, 22 hits and 12 rbis in 61 at bats. Gary has also gotten 45 total bases and 11 runs. Right now gary is batting .361 and is boasting a .738 slugging percentage and a .409 on base percentage.

Gary has been with the yankees since 2010. Gary grew up in the dominican republic and was signed by the yankees as international free agent on june 20th 2009. He was regarded as one of the yankees top 10 prospects when they first signed him. Gary just like tyler austin would start off with the gulf coast yankees in the 2010 season and would then make his way to the yankees single A affiliate the staten island yankees on august 19th 2010. After his success he would get called one of the best baseball prospects heading into the 2011 season.

in 2011 gary spent the season with the Class A charleston riverdogs of the south atlantic league. after 2011 he would play with the tampa yankees and the charleston riverdogs and would then go on to play with Double AA trenton thunder in 2013 and would spend the 2014 season with the trenton thunder. it wasn’t until 2015 when he saw dominant success getting moved up the Triple AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders and representing the yankees in the 2015 all star futures game. Gary would play with the railriders until august when he finally got called up to the bigs by the yankees.

Gary has had a lot of coverage recently and today he got named al player of the week for his fantastic performance getting 11 hits and 4 home runs. He became the first yankees catcher to win AL player of the week since the late great thurman munson who won it back in 1976. Gary has a lot of talent and is a very power hitting catcher and can not only benefit the yankees behind the batter’s box but also on the plate and definitely has a bright future with the yankees going forward

A look at baseballs best and biggest babies

who should replace Mark Teixeira at firstbase in 2017

Okay with mark teixeira leaving in 2017 (cue for me crying now) is a sad thing but unfortunately it is happening and the yankees need someone who can fill that void so without further adieu here are the top 5 yankees that could replace mark teixeira at first base in 2017

1.  Yankees first baseman Greg Bird: Greg had quite a run towards the end of the 2015 season. Greg got called up by Joe Giradi in 2015  from scranton when mark teixieria got injured in august and was out for the rest of the season. Greg wouold only play in 46 games in 2015 starting from august 13th to october 6th but he got 11 home runs, 41 hits,31 rbis,26 runs and 83 total bases. Greg also batted .261 in those 46 games and got a .343 on base percentage and a .529 slugging percentage as well. Greg missed all of the 2016 season with a torn labrum in his right shoulder. Greg does show promise but with him not being able to play at all in 2016 it is hard to tell wheather or not he will be a good first baseman or not.

2.  Yankees Utility infielder and outfielder Rob Refsnyder: Rob has played in 45 games this season and has shown some promise. He is primarily the yankees main utility player and has been a substitute first baseman for mark teixeira since june when mark had several bouts with injuries and dustin ackley wasn’t able to cover him at first base. Yankees infield coordinator  Joe Espada has said that rob shows a lot of promise at first base. Mark Teixeira has even taken him under his wing and is mentoring him helping build him into an all star first baseman and he definitly does show that there is a chance he could fill some big shoes and replace mark in 2017

3.  Seattle Mariners First Baseman Adam Lind: Adam is almost done with his year with the mariners and is entering free agency in 2017. Unless the mariners dont shell out more bucks for adam to keep on playing first base he has a chance of becoming the yankees starting first baseman in 2017. Adam has very mediocre stats this season he has 16 home runs,67 hits,45 rbis,37 runs and 126 total bases. Adam is also batting .233 this season and has a .438 slugging percentage and a not so good .269 on base percentage. Adam is 33 years old and is no kid in major league terms and he is the type of player that is good enough to play in the mlb but if he did any worse he would get sent back to triple A. Adam has won a silver slugger award and if the yankees decide to start him they also have greg bird and rob refsnyder to back him up at first base.

4. Blue Jays First Baseman Justin Smoak: Justin is another not so great option the yankees have for first base in 2017 but he can fill a body I mean they replaced Derek jester arguably one of the greatest shortstops of all time with Didi Gregorius a man who got only 13 home runs in 3 mlb seasons before coming with the Yankees so don’t act like they were going to be Able to get mark Trumbo automatically. Justin is a pretty good player though he has gotten 13 home runs this season along with 57 hits and 28 RBIS and 28 runs and even a 106 total bases. Justin’s other greatest aspects are his .313 on base percentage and his .412 slugging percentage. Justin is 29 so he has some youth to him but he still isn’t a kid. But he does have a better chance of becoming the Yankees 2017 starting first baseman then Tim Tebow does at making it to the MLB in 2017

5.Rangers first baseman Mitch Moreland: Okay Mitch is the Yankees Hail Mary for first baseman in 2017 and Brian cashman better get prepared to open that wallet to get him to sign with the Yankees in 2017. Mitch currently has 19 home runs, 83 hits, 48 RBIS,39 runs and a 156 total bases. Mitch also batted .255 this year and had a .480 slugging percentage and a .318 on base percentage. Mitch is currently 30 and has played in the MLB since 2010 and all of those seasons where with the Texas Rangers and it would be an adjustment to move to the Yankees in 2017 but I do think Mitch could help carry the Yankees In 2017 and while no one can replace Mark Teixeira I think Mitch can replace first base

The curious case of the 2016 Chicago cubs and how the cubs got to be the success they are now

The Chicago Cubs right now are 77-43 with a .629 win percentage. They are without a doubt the best team in baseball and are predicted to win the World Series this year and end their 108 year World Series drought.

Last year the Cubs had a glimpse of victory with a 97-65 record finishing third in their division. They would however lose the NLCS to the mets that year. It is amazing to think the cubs are the best team in baseball now.I remember seeing an episode of according to jim and jim in a dream meets with god and he asks could you make the cubs win the world series this year and god smirked back i can’t work miracles.

You have heard all the cubs jokes like what’s the difference between dirt and the cubs nothing they both always get swept or another good one what do the cubs manager and alex trebek have in common both their jobs are in jeopardy.

The cubs had such a great run last year before getting swept by the mets in 4 games in the 2015 nlcs. But they have beyond redeemed themselves i mean in march of 2015 they were predicted by forbes to win the world series. lets take a look at some contributing effects to their current success

Joe Maddon: the cubs success in getting joe maddon in 2015 was easily their best decision. Joe is a really good manager he has been a fulltime manager since 2006 so 11 seasons and in those 11 seasons he got 6 seasons where he managed to get over 90 wins for his team and managed to win the manager of the year award 3 times (2008,2011,2015) the cubs had finished in last place in the NL central in 2014 the year before Maddon came on the team.

Kris bryant: The cubs called up there first round 2013 draft pick and top baseball prospect third baseman Kris Bryant. Kris got 26 home runs, a 154 hits, 87 runs, 99 rbis and 273 total bases and won NL rookie of the year and made it to the all star game that season

Jake arrieta started playing the way he should: in 2015 jake had a beyond breakout year getting the most wins in the MLB that season with 22 wins and having a 1.77 ERA

signing john lackey, ben zobrist and jason heyward: In december of 2015 the cubs signed starting john lackey from the cardinals, outfielder jason heyward from the royals and second baseman ben zobrist from the Royals

Hitting: right now the Cubs current best hitter is Kris Bryant with a 126 hits and a .291 batting average. The cubs currently as a team have 1007 total team hits the 17th most in baseball right now. They also have the 15th best team batting average with a .255 batting average and they are also currently boasting a very impressive .429 slugging percenatage the 14th best in the mlb

Base running: The cubs are very good at base running with Anthony Rizzo on the roster. Right now anthony has 34 doubles the most in the national league right now and 4 triples and 240 total bases and even a .399 on base percentage the 9th highest this season. They next have sophomore kris bryant who currently racks up a total of 28 doubles, 1 triple, 7 stolen bases 241 total bases and finishing that all off with a .383 on base percentage.

scoring: the cubs main runs scorers are once again kris bryant and anthony rizzo. Kris and anthony are the only two players on the cubs with more than 20 home runs kris with 28 home runs and anthony with 25 home runs. Kris and anthony are also the team leaders in rbis and runs with kris having 91 runs and 72 rbis and anthony having 71 runs and 85 rbis.

The cubs can also lean on addison russell and ben zobrist with addison having 14 home runs,72 rbis and 47 runs and ben having 13 home runs, 58 rbis and 70 runs. The cubs also have dexter fowler who has provided the cubs with a valuable asset which is baserunning

fielding: When it comes to fielding the cubs really have an angel in infield and not the outfield with there first baseman anthony rizzo having the third most assists and total catches in baseball with 1066 total catches and 85 assists. Anthony also has the 4th most putouts in the MLB with 976 putouts and anthony even has the 17th most double plays in baseball with 69 double plays.

Starting pitching: The cubs easily have the best starting rotation in baseball with Jake Arrieta leading off the rotation then John Lester,Kyle Hendricks,John Lackey and Jason Hammell. The cubs starting rotation really says a lot mainly that if  you want to be a starting pitcher for the cubs it helps to have youre first name start with the letter J lol but seriously this year’s cubs starting rotation is the shit.

I mean let’s take a look at jake arrieta. He already has a no hitter this year and the only one in baseball this year. but besides that jake arrieta has a 15-5 record a 2.75 ERA and a 155 strikeouts. The second man in the rotation is  Jon Lester but just because he is the second man in the rotation doesn’t mean he is second best at all. Jon has a 13-4 record and a stellar 2.86 era and a 146 strikeouts.

Then there is kyle hendricks and he has a 11-7 record and a majestically amazing 2.19 ERA and a 124 strikeouts. And you can expect not to see a lack of good pitching with John Lackey boasting a 9-7 record, a 3.41 ERA and a 156 strikeouts. Then there was one last but not least in the starting rotation jason hammel. Jason right now has a 13-5 record, a 2.75 era and 113 strikeouts. the cubs 5 starting rotation pitchers have a combined total of 61 wins that is more than a lot of mlb teams have this season.

bullpen: The cubs have right now aroldis chapman ( Im not upset he left the yankees i mean sometimes at night i cry myself to sleep knowing that we traded the best closer in baseball and andrew miller and no longer have the best bullpen in baseball but hey we at least got a bunch off dope ass prospects so should be good) Either way aroldis has only been with team for not even a month and he already has 7 saves and 27 saves this season.

They also have hector rondon who has 18 saves with the cubs and a 2.47 era. There bullpen definitely isn’t spectacular but because there starting rotation and starting lineup will both score so many runs and prevent so many runs they really dont have to worry to much about the bullpen.

One last #texmessage. A look back at Mark Teixeira best career moments with the yankees as he prepares to leave the them after 2016.

Okay this is easily going to be one of the hardest blog posts i will ever write. Not because it is a hard article to write but it is me coming to the acceptance of my favorite yankee player since i was 14 is leaving the yankees. It is never easy to see a player that was such a big part of the team for 8 years and someone who is loved by many and someone who you always wanna hear talk in postgame interviews. Someone who you see get back up no matter how much he falls. I am going to very much miss mark and i am even sadder to see him go then jeter because of how much i enjoyed watching him. So without further adieu it’s time for you all to get a #texmessage

1.  Mark winning the 2009 world series: in 2009 mark was a key part in the 2009 yankees roster and there world series win against the phillies mark was part of the 27 yankees world series winning team and there first world series win in the new stadium and the last world series win with george steinbrenner

2.  Mark catching the final out of the 2009 world series: on november 4th 2009 at yankee stadium the yankees won their 27th world series title. I was at the game and i remember that moment like it was yesterday. Mariano rivera was pitching bottom of the 9th with two outs with jimmy rollins on second and shane victorino at bat. the yankees were leading 7-3 and there were just one out away from winning it all in 2009.

with 2 outs Shane victorino got a line drive to second base where robinson cano would throw it to mark teixeira and mark would tag him out getting the winning catch of the 2009 world series and the last play of the game. I will never forget that moment seeing cano throw to texieria and seeing him catch it and the whole team charge the field. There faces the excitement being at the stadium for the game winning world series game easily best moment of my life hands down

3. New York Yankees' Mark Teixeira hits a home run in the fourth inning of Game 2 of the Major League Baseball World Series Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, in New York. Philadelphia Phillies' Carlos Ruiz is catching. Umpire is Jeff Nelson. (AP Photo/Eric Gay)  that time mark got a world series home run: On game 2 of the 2009 world series at yankee stadium on october 29th 2009 mark got a solo home run against phillies pitcher Pedro Martinez in the bottom of the 4th inning putting the yankees on the board and tying the game at 1-1. The yankees would later go on to win that game 3-1 and hideaki matsui would get a home run in it as well.

4.  Mark texieria getting the walk off home run and a pie in his face in the 2009 alds: during game 2 of the 2009 alds at yankee stadium mark texieria in the bottom of the 11th inning got the game winning home run against the then twins relief pitcher José Mijares giving the yankees the 1 run which brougth the game from 3-3 to 4-3 and helping save the 2009 ALDS and help the yankees sweep the series in three games. The best part of that game wasnt even the walk off home run it was the signature AJ Burnett creampie to the face of the player with the walk off run.

5.  Marks 2009 season in general: I remember exactly when the yankees signed mark 8 years ago back in december of 2008 when they signed him to a 8 year $180,000,000 contract. I will never forget when mark got officially introduced as a yankee on january 6th of 2009. In january of 200 america would get a black president and a legend of a first baseman for the yankees. Mark has played exactly as long as obama has been president for and it has been a pretty crazy 8 years for both of them. Marks first season with the yankees in 2009 was beyond stellar.

He not only got a world series ring and made the aforementioned last catch in 2009 world series and got a walk off home run in the alds he also had one such a tremendous first season. He won a gold glove award and a silver slugger award as well. But he also lead the american league in home runs with 39 home runs and also lead the american league in rbis with a 122 rbis.

And he got to play in the all star game for the second time in his career since 2005. Mark also batted .292 in 09 and had a 178 hits and 344 total bases. Mark was also able to get a .565 slugging percentage and a .383 on base percentage. But the best thing he did in 2009 was become a part of the yankees and become my favorite player in the yankees.

5. First baseman Mark Teixeira hits three home runs and becomes the only other Yankee besides Iron Horse Lou Gehrig to do so against the Red Sox. Getting three home runs against the red sox in one game: On saturday may 8th 2010 Mark Teixeira managed to get on his high iron horse and say he has something in common with lou gehrig. Not that they were both first baseman who played with the yankees but that they both got three home runs in one game against the red sox at fenway park. Lou did it 83 years before mark on june 23rd (my birthday) 1927. Mark would get a home run in the top of the 5th inning, the top of the 7th and the top of the 9th.

Mark would also get these three home runs off three different pitchers the first one in the top of the 5th was against Clay Buchholz making the game 4-3 and giving the yankees the lead. Then in the top of 7th he would get a home run against Ramon Ramirez making the game 7-3 and then in the top of the 9th he would get a home run against Jonathan Van Every making the game 14-3. The yankees would win that game 14-3 and it was easily the best game of 2010 season for mark and one of the best of his career.

6. Mark Teixeira Joins the 300 home run club: on thursday june 30th 2011 at yankee stadium Mark Teixeira would get a home run against brewers starting pitcher randy wolf in the bottom of the third inning. This was his 24th home run of the season but what made it so special was it was Mark’s 300 career home run. Mark would have a very good year in 2011 and would get 15 more home runs that season getting 39 home runs that season.

7.  Dealing with bronchitis, wrist inflammation and a calf strain and missing 39 and yet still managing to be such a savage and get the gold glove: 2012 was the real downfall of marks playing career and the year his injuries would start getting worse and his ability to be very injury prone would become evident after the 2012 season playing in only 15 games in the 2013 season.

Mark only played in 123 games that season and yet managed to get 24 home runs,a 113 hits, 84 RBIS,66 runs and 214 total bases and even bat .251 that year and get a .475 slugging percentage and a .332 on base percentage. Mark’s greatest achievement was not only getting the gold glove but also the fielding bible award in 2012. Mark had overcome many obstacles that season and dealt with a lot of adversity and still managed to say fuck you bronchitis i am getting me a gold glove this season

8.  Managing to make the all star game for the first time in 6 years and get his groove back in 2015: while mark did not have a spectacular season in 2014 he did manage to play in a 108 more games. He was on the roster he got 22 home runs and got to play with derek jeter during his last MLB season with the yankees. Mark would manage to redeem himself in 2015 not only getting 31 home runs that season and bat .255 in 2015 and even get a 100 hits and 79 rbis.

The most important thing about mark in 2015 was when he managed to get to the american league roster for the 2015 all star game.Teixeira had a very good run in 2015 and probably good of gotten to 40 home runs but unfortunately got injured on august 17th while playing against the twins where he would fouled a ball of his leg and very badly bruised it cutting his season short to only a 111 games.

9.  saying goodbye to the 300 hundred home run club and joining the 400 home run club: on a sunday 4:45pm late afternoon game with the yankees playing against the padres at petco park Mark teixeira once again got a home run. It wasn’t his 24th home run of the season it was just his 6th home run of the year but it was the best home run of his career and his life. It was his 400th home run. Mark managed to get his 400th home run against padres pitcher carlos villanueva.

it was a fly ball to deep right field line. It was just a regular major league home run no different than any of his 0ther 399 home runs but that home run was what mark can hold proud of. That home run gave mark a name for himself. That home run showed everyone how far he accomplished in 14 seasons despite many setbacks and injuries. That home run put him on the 55th spot in most home runs by an mlb player.

That home put him up in the ranks of mickey mantle and chipper jones and eddie murray and even his own teammate carlos beltran for switch hitters with over 400 home runs. Mark can now say he is one of the best switch hitters in MLB history because of that one home run he can say i did it every kid dreams of hitting a home run in the MLB and i got 400 of them. Mark is currently at 404 home runs and 4 home runs off beating duke snider 407 career home runs.

10 Mark being Mark: whether it was his amazing talk show host ability with mock talk show foul territory on yes network. His amazing interviews of jeter and his awkward and amazing interviewing ability which landed him a nomination for 2015 NY emmy awards. It was marks just odd and funny where he could be deliberately shy or playing a pompeius asshole version of himself in entourage in 2010 or teaming up with cc sabathia to play the mom in the play and movie osage county  where meryl streep had played the character before and he definitely had the better performance.

Then there was the time he told some bees not to fuck with the yankees while they are playing and in a 7 minute delay during a yankees red sox grapefruit game in spring training. Mark got up and faced the bees with honey luring them over to him and then spraying them with water trying to wrangle them off the field. With his fine acting abilities and love of broadway he was like the MLB player version of the tv character frasier.

Mark is a player who you simply can’t hate he is someone who will always give you over a 100% each time someone who can bounce back from bronchitis someone who can each season get injured and still get a gold glove. Mark is what held the yankees together for the last 8 seasons and to see him leave is very painful. It was his face when he caught a ball and the smile he had while running the bases mark was larger than life and not even a $180,000,000 contract can find a player like him. He wasn’t a legend but he is a legend among the hearts of every yankee fan. And there are two times it is appropriate for a man to cry. One is watching rudy and the other is watching mark announce his retirement after 2016.

One last #texmessage. A look back at Mark Teixeira best career moments with the yankees as he prepares to leave the them after 2016.

5 best August trade deadline trades

Okay it has been a pretty crazy couple of days with the whole yankees losing all of there pitching and carlos beltran to august trade deadline deals and it has been a rough trade dealine for me seeing ivan Nova,Andrew Miller, Aroldis Chapman and Carlos beltran all get traded to other teams but i think the yankees can benefit from those with all the new young talent they got with all those prospects and could have a world series winning team by the 2019 so without further adieu lets take a look at the 5 best august trade deadline trades

1. Jay Bruce to the mets from the Reds for Mets triple A pitcher Max Wotell and mets second baseman Dilson Herrera: okay jay Bruce has spent his entire career 9 year career playing with the Reds until four days ago when jay was traded to the mets. Last year the mets got Yoenis Cespedes from the Detroit Tigers in a trade deadline deal on July 31st for mets minor league pitchers Micheal Fulmer Luis Cessa. Jay was a very smart decision for the mets with jay being a solid home run hitter getting 25 home runs this season with the Reds. Jay also has 98 hits,  60 runs, 80 RBIS and a .259 batting average and a .311 on base percentage and a .548 slugging percentage. Jay is a power home run hitter which can help boost the mets third place 55-52 record in the NL east

2. New York Yankees trade right fielder Carlos Beltran to the Texas Rangers for prospects Dillon Tate, Erick Swanson and nick green: On August 1st 2016 I said goodbye to one of my favorite Yankees since 2014 Carlos Beltran. Carlos was in his final year of his three year 45 million dollar contract with the Yankees when the Yankees decided to release him and trade him to the Yankees.

Carlos was the Yankees best hitter and lead the team in home runs with 22 home runs and hits with a 109 hits and even batting average with a .304 batting average. The Yankee lost Carlos Beltran, Andrew Miller, Aroldis Chapman and Ivan Nova in the August trade deadline deals. The Rangers went for Beltran to increase there chances of making it to the World Series and have a strong power hitter on there roster. Carlos presence will help boost the stating lineup along with him in the lineup and Rougned Odor, Ian Desmond, Mitch Moreland and Adrian Beltre. The rangers are currently the best team in the american league with the best record in the american league with a 62-46 record.

3.   New York Yankees trade Andrew Miller to the Cleveland Indians for indians minor league prospects Clint Frazier, Justus Sheffield,Ben Heller and J.P. Feyereisen: With the indians suddenly having a hot streak from june 17th to august 2nd winning 14 straight games. Cleveland definitely needed andrew low era and high strikeout numbers to help boost there rotation and with october right around the corner cleveland will need all the help it can get

4.  Aroldis Chapman to the cubs for former yankee adam warren and minor league prospects Gleyber Torres,Billy McKinney and Rashad Crawford. On july 25th 2016 the yankees traded there star closer aroldis chapman to the cubs for adam warren and three other prospects. Aroldis was a key valuable aspect to the yankees. Aroldis has taken over the closer role from venezuelan baseball player Hector Rondon. Aroldis definitely adds a certain flair to the cubs lineup with his 22 saves and 2.00 ERA. Now with andrew and and arodis out of the yankees and the bullpen it is no longer the key three and dellin betances is now the lone survivor of the yankees bullpen

5.Ivan Nova Ivan Nova to the Pirates for two players to be named later: On august 1st the yankees traded pitcher ivan nova to the pirates for two mysterious pirates players. Ivan Is a pretty bad starting pitcher in terms of having a star in starting pitcher with a 7-6 record this year and a 4.90 era and 75 strikeouts but the pirates have awful pitching with there best pitcher only having a 116 strikeouts and the player with the best ERA has a 4.91 era and three players are tied with 8 wins. Ivan is now home in the island of misfit toys a place where he thrive a that mediocre player star he is.

5 best August trade deadline trades

best NL pitchers of all time

Okay it is time for me to discuss the best NL pitchers of all time in part of my series of articles called best Players for both AL and NL of all time. So without further adieu here are the 5 best NL pitchers of all time

1.  Starting Pitcher Nolan Ryan New York Mets,California Angeles,Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers 1966-1993: All aboard the Ryan Express. Good old Nolan Ryan. Easily one of my favorite all time pitchers. Now while Nolan did play for two al teams for a while the rangers and the angels he did play in the NL longer even if it was just one year.

Nolan played 14 years in the NL playing for the Astros and the Mets (the astros would later became an AL team but wouldn’t make the switch from NL to AL until 2013) Nolan in total played 27 seasons in the MLB. Now nolan would accomplish many feats such as getting a world series ring in 1969 while playing for the miracle mets.  Despite Nolan’s huge enormous talent pitching he unfortunately would never get a cy young award, a triple crown or pitch a perfect game. But that doesn’t mean his whole career was a waste.

He would go on to make it to the all star game 8 times, be an 11 time mlb strikeout leader, a 2 time NL ERA leader, get 7 no hitters (the most in baseball history) and get 5,714 career strikeouts the most strikeouts in baseball history.  Nolan would pull of many other impressive feats such as getting the 14th most career wins in baseball with 324 wins and he also currently has a 324-292 career win-loss record.

Nolan also managed t o get 9.5 strikeouts per every 9 innings pitched that is the 7th highest career record for strikeout per 9 innings pitched record. to put nolans strikeout ability into perspective nolan faced a total of 22,575 batters and struckout 5,714 that means he struck out 25% of all his batters faced. Nolan also had the 20th best career WAR in history (Wins above replacement players) with a 83.8 WAR and Nolan also allowed a total of 1,911 earned runs the 5th most in baseball.

2.  Starting pitcher Sandy Koufax Brooklyn/los angeles dodgers 1955-1966: Sandy Koufax AKA the clayton kershaw of the 1950s and 1960s. Sandy had a pretty short baseball career of 12 years and retired at just the age of 30 and he is the youngest player to ever get inducted into the baseball hall of fame getting inducted at the age of 36 in in 1972. Sandy first started playing baseball as a teenager at the age of 19 in 1955 when they were still called the Brooklyn dodgers and was 22 when they made the move to los angeles to become the los angeles dodgers.

In sandy’s short 12 year career he pitched a perfect game, four no hitters, won the triple crown and the cy young award both 3 times, was a 2 time world series MVP, won the world series 4 times, made it to the all star game 7 times and won the NL MVP in 1963. And that’s not all if you continue reading you will get to find out sandy was also a 3 time MLB wins leader, a 5 time NL ERA leader and a 4 time MLB strikeout leader and all this and more if you start following there is no crying in baseball blog at word press.com. Okay done with that funny ad placement line sandy.

Now sandy definitely could be at much bigger career numbers if he continued playing for like 10 more years but lets look at his career stats. He had a 167-87 win-loss record, a very impressive 2.76 career ERA,2,396 career strikeouts. Sandy also has the 11th most strikeout per 9 inning record with an average of 9.3 strikeouts per every 9 innings he pitched

3.  Starting Pitcher Greg Maddux Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres 1986-2008: Gred ”Mad Dog” Maddux was a very prominent pitcher in in the mid 1980s to the late 200s. Greg was a very dominant right hand pitcher who was known for his fastballs such as his two seam fastballs and his circle changeups and he grew a huge reputation for being a ground ball pitcher.

During Greg’s career he would become an 8 time all star, a 4 time NL CY young award winner, An 18 time gold glove award winner (the most won by a pitcher), a 3 time MLB wins leader, a 4 time MLB ERA leader and he won a world series while playing with the braves in 1995 when the braves beat the cleveland indians. Greg started in 740 games and pitched a total of 5,008.3 innings and faced a total of 20,421 batters during his 23 season career.  Greg currently has 355 career wins the 8th most in baseball and has a 355-227 career win-loss record. Greg also got the 10th most strikeouts in baseball with 3,371 career strikeouts and the 8th highest WAR for pitchers with a 104.6 career WAR.

4.   Relief Pitcher Trevor Hoffman Florida Marlins, San Diego Padres and the Milwaukee Brewers 1993-2010:  Trevor Hoffman the man who will always be viewed as second best right next to mariano rivera. Trevor had an 18 season MLB career. Now Trevor didn’t have to many amazing career achievements besides making it to the all star game 7 times and becoming a 2 time NL saves leader. Trevor had pitched in a total of  1,035 games the 11th most for a pitcher and had pitched a total of 952 innings. Trevor has the second most career saves in baseball right next to mariano rivera with 601 career saves and has the 8th highest strikeout per 9 innings pitched record striking out around 9.631 batters per every 9 innings pitched. Trevor also got a pretty great WHIP while playing in the MLB getting a 1.058 WHIP. Trevor also got a very impressive 2.87 career era and 1,133 career strikeouts.

5.  Relief Pitcher Lee Smith Chicago Cubs,Boston Red Sox,St Louis Cardinals,New York Yankees,California Angeles, Cincinnati Reds and the Montreal Expos 1980-1997: Lee Smith was a relief pitcher for 18 years and was easily the most dominant and successful relief pitcher in the 1980s and 1990s.

Lee was a 7 time all star and 4 time saves leader in his 18 year career. I actually went to a yankee game with Lee and his wife before he was a pretty nice guy. Lee is most known for his ability to get a save getting 47 saves in one season before and he currently has the third most career saves of all time with 478 career saves. Lee had a career 3.03 ERA and 1,251 career strikeouts. Lee also got 8.73 strikeouts per every 9 innings pitched the 18th most in baseball.

6.   Closer Bruce Sitter Chicago Cubs and the St Louis Cardinals 1976-1988: Another hall of famer with a short career playing just 12 years except he started playing at 23 and retired at 33 and wasn’t inducted to the hall of fame in 2006 when he was 53 and it was on his thirteenth ballot.

Bruce also had some pretty good stats in his 12 years making it to the all star game 6 times, winning a world series in 1982 while playing with the cardinals and winning the NL CY young award in 1979 and a 5 time NL saves leader. Bruce got 300 career saves and got 7.43 strikeouts per every 9 innings pitched and has a 6.6 career WAR for pitchers the 9th best in the mlb for pitchers. Bruce also got 801 strikeouts and a 2.83 career ERA and a 1.14o WHIP.
